Ah, the wonderful world of pistol shooting. What a joy it can be if taught correctly the first time or if your an "Ol'dog" we have some new tricks for you.
The NRA Basic Pistol Course is just the beginning to a world of personal protection and sport/target shooting. The NRA Basic Pistol Course in conjunction with our specialized training techniques will prove effective for the most basic of students to the advanced hunter looking to obtain their Concealed Carry Permit.
There are many states that require the NRA Basic Pistol Course as the basis for the Concealed Carry Permit. The State of Connecticut and New York are just a few.

Lesson 1 — Pistol Knowledge & Safe Gun Handling. Participant will be able to:
• Identify the principal parts of a pistol and types of actions, and demonstrate how they function. • Name, explain, apply, and adopt the NRA rules for safe gun handling. • Demonstrate how to handle pistols in a safe manner.
Lesson 2 — Ammunition Knowledge & Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting.
Participant will be able to explain: • The different components of a pistol cartridge. • The firing sequence of a cartridge. • How to properly store ammunition. • The major types of cartridge malfunctions. • The fundamentals of pistol shooting.
Lesson 3 — Firing the First Shots. Participant will be able to:
• Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to shoot a pistol safely on a range. • Shoot targets from the benchrest position using the fundamentals of pistol shooting. • Identify materials needed to clean a pistol. • Clean a pistol safely.
Lesson 4 — Two-Handed & One-Handed Standing Shooting Positions. Participant should be able to:
• Demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely shoot a handgun from the two-handed and one-handed standing shooting positions. • Properly score a pistol target. • Explain the basic guidelines for purchasing a pistol.
Lesson 5 — Pistol Sports & Activities. Participant should be able to:
• Identify several ways to pursue pistol shooting activities after the course. • Safely pursue and enjoy pistol shooting activities to the best of their abilities.
